Hi Everyone,

We will have an off-road ride this Saturday, March 7, at Hailes Trails near Newberry.  This is the pre-ride day for the South Eastern Regional Championship Series mountain bike race the following day. We will meet at 10am in the parking area, look for the blue xterra with a "share the road" license plate. This is a technical course and lots of fun! It is only open for mountain biking two weekends each year so this is a great opportunity to ride these trails and work on some skills.  Please note there is a small fee to enter the mountain bike trails area:

Directions: Take I-75 to Exit #387 go west on SR 26 for 8 miles turn right on NW 202 go 3 miles and turn left on NW 46Ave then take second left turn (1/4 mile).

Cost: Sat: $5 per rider. Sun $3 per person over 10 years old.

There is also a women's mountain bike clinic at Hailes Trails, 2pm on Saturday, free of charge. However you must pre-register, see http://www.floridawomencycling.net/raceclinic.html?1235949387223  for more information.  For more information on Sunday morning's races, visit: www.goneriding.com

We will also have an off-road ride this Sunday, March 8, at San Felasco.  Meet at the bike trailhead, off SR 441 just south of Alachua. The ride will start at 1pm, so be there and ready to ride by that time.  Distance and pace depends on who shows up, but we typically have a faster, intermediate, and not so fast group.  All levels and skills are welcome.  For novice riders, you will have someone to ride with, and we will wait at all the turns so you will not get dropped. This is a good opportunity to become familiar with the trails at San Felasco for riders who have yet to explore the park.

Don't forget the time change at 2am on March 8!  I will be posting rides for evenings during the week in the near future. Also, a non-GCC related activity -  if anyone is interested in trail running/fast walking as cross training or xterra/adventure race training, please contact me.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or call.

Hope to see you this weekend!

Cathy
