I commute to work and back home 5 days a week on Millhopper.  I have sufficient room and haven't had any problems.  The new striping is nice, but I felt fine before.  Maybe because I just moved here ayear ago and think it is really nice having bicycle lanes on most roads.  It's new to me, but I appreciate what's here.

Using Edmonds.com I looked at the width of a range of vehicles including vans, large pickup trucks, large cars and even the less than graceful Hummer. Most of the units measure 6'6"-6'9" with the Hummer coming in at 6'-10". Probably the cars most people use measure close to 6' or in compact car sizes, less than 6' The stripes on Millhopper really only enforce the 3' clearance rule (if the rider rides in the middle of the bike lane). The bike lane width has not been increased.
Not all cars are meant to travel all roads.
