My guess is that if he's 5'8", a 54cm frame would be the biggest he would fit on, nothing bigger. I'm no fitting-expert though.

I'm including the list on this in case someone is getting ready to offer you their old 56cm.

Subject: GCCMail: Looking for a bike for wounded Vet.

Hi all,
I have a friend who was severely wounded in Iraq.  After a year of surguries and rehab he was just medically retired from the Army and has been riding a stationary bike to help his mangled leg.  He is very interested in getting a bike and riding the roads but he doesn't have much money.  He is 5'8'' and would ride a 54cm -56cm?  He only has about $200 to spend.  Does anyone have an older bike that is in good shape or one I could fix up with a little work?  Any ideas or would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jonathan Pruden
