I was saddened to hear of the injuries to one
of my
favorite people. My hope was that the injuries were not as severe as first
reported, but today's update confirmed that they were. My best whishes to
Vicki.
A comment was made of the driver's "lame
excuse" of
the sun in his eyes. I don't know if he was incompetent or careless but who
amongst us has not been temporarlly
blinded by the sun as we turned into it,
or
as we crested a hill. We shouldn't practice "Dangerous Denial"; instead
reconize
and avoid those instances that put us at a disadvantage.
At our Labor Day picnic a rider (she had had a
serious car-car accident) told me that people don't realize how dangerous
driving is. As long as we are active we are at risk and we must plan
accordingly.
