On Saturday August 25, Strays will ride about 32 - 34 miles, from Hawthorne to Boulware Springs and back to Hawthorne, on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail..

Arrive at the Hawthorne parking lot at the end of the GHT at 8:15 am for an 8:30 ride start.

Speed 2.5 - 46 mph, depending on terrain. Average speed has typically been 13 - 14 mph in recent times. This ride is quite flat.

To get to the Hawthorne end of the GHT:
Take 20 east out of Gainesville to Hawthorne (about 17 miles). Take a right on the last road just before you reach 301 (The overpass goes over 301), this will be the main street of downtown Hawthorne. Follow this street a few blocks until your reach the street just past the traffic light and turn right. Go a few blocks east and you will see a clinic on your left. Go left in front of the clinic and the GHT parking lot will be a few hundred feet in front of you.
If you follow some brown signs and you end up arriving at a large paved lot with a wooden fence dividing it from the trail, you are at the equestrian parking lot. The lot we start the bike ride from is a mile further east. Don't laugh, we've had people make this mistake before. The vehicle parking spots at the end of the trail are gravel, not pavement.
