The GCC is currently in the process of implementing a policy of providing life memberships to members who are current on their 75th birthday.  When you renew your membership, and the term will end after your 75th birthday, you’ll get a membership card with “LIFE MEMBER” on it.

If you are a current member over the age of 75, you will be getting your new membership card in a few weeks.

The programming on the web site to support this is not yet in place, but if you want to do some second grade mat h, you should be able to figure out what your individual cost would be if you wanted to extend your membership through your 75th birthday.  The basic formula is $12 a year plus $3 (less $1 if you are in the bonus).  It gets more complicated for families; I’ll cover that in the newsletter.

It’s important that your birthdate on the club records be correct, as otherwise you might receive a fraudulent life membership.  (Birthdates can be hidden from other club members if you are sensitive.)

The club is in great shape financially, and we’re offering this as a service to the membership for those who enjoy not getting a bill every year or two.

Roger,
That is great!

One way to make sure this number remains high while also raising club revenues would be to do like so many member organizations and offer lifetime memberships.

(Usually 20 offered at a rate about equal to "current membership x 20)."

This rewards loyal members (pay less over the long run), insulates member rolls from flagging during tough times, and gives the club a substantial interest bearing nest egg.

Any thoughts along these lines?

Rob

F or the first time in club history, our membership has exceeded 1000 members.  (We currently stand at 1007.)

Club membership varies almost daily as new members sign up, and every other month as a few old members drop out or move away.
