Ride will leave Tioga Town Center at Bike Works Parking Lot at 6:10,
arrive 6:00 please. 25 Miles, No Drop, 18mph for the main group.
This is a ride for fit riders that can average 17mph solo for one
hour, to help them learn how to draft and ride a paceline safely.
Experienced riders are expected to teach and mentor
actively.
The "Shenanigans" this week will be a three-rider
Team Time Trial, two must cross the line--no aero equipment
allowed--we'll stage it so the fast people go last. The two-rider
TTT was the most popular drill we've done except for rotating, so I
expect a good turnout for the Three-Rider! GCC-Salloteer TTTrialists
are welcome.
Note to Faster Riders: It is okay to use this as a
training ride, but please do so on the back or in the Shenanigan group.
If you want to ride with the easier main group and get a work out,
talk to me about over-cadence training--I promise you I can make you hurt
at 18mph. I'm not picking on anyone (I'm as guilty), but
we're getting too big to do it any other way.
Note to Newer Riders: We've really got to
learn to stand up at corners and stop signs and be ready to get right back
in the mix. While it is the responsibility of the front riders to
leave corners and stops slowly so everyone can regroup, acceleration and
fast regrouping is also one of the most important skills for a new rider to
learn to avoid getting dropped on challenging rides. We'll talk
about this before the ride. If you have individual difficulty with
this skill, let me know.
