The two-bike bike rack is gone. Thanks
I know the remainder of this e-mail is not directly related to
cycling, however I will take the heat if kicked off the site. I have always
found cyclists to be compassionate people and hope I am not wrong this
time.
I work at the Alachua County Housing Authority and we have been
fielding calls all day regarding housing the refugees from the devastated
regions left by Katrina. Currently, we have a family in our
office that was told that they would need to leave their hotel room
tomorrow as the rooms are reserved for football fans. As our phone keeps
ringing, we know there will be others in the same boat in the morning. We
have had some luck working with the landlords and apartment complexes in
the area and have found them a home. However, they will need food,
furniture, etc. as will others that we come in contact with.
If you have anything that can help this family or the thousands of
others coming this way, please contact us by e-mail at
thepreserveinc@xxxxxxxxx or by
phone at (352) 372-2549
We are also working very closely with the American Red Cross (352)
376-4669 and United Way Information and Referral (352) 332-4636. They
can also take donations or direct you to the appropriate location to drop
them off.
Thanks again,
Ron
