Weekend Schedule Saturday, December 30 North – route TBD by those attending Sunday, December 31 South – route TBD by those attending
About Winter This will be the last posting of Glider rides from me for a while. My job makes it impossible for me to reliably post, and for most of the winter to ride at all. During this time the Gliders traditionally continue to meet according to the A Rider schedule (which we have done throughout the year in any case). Often, the small numbers showing up on colder mornings will dictate that the two rides combine. I encourage you to continue riding, and when possible, to form a separate Glider group. When the A Riders decide to “do their thing” it can be discouraging for people who are true Gliders. Do not hesitate to post a ride if you want to lead a particular route, or see that the weather will dictate a later start (look first to ensure someone else hasn’t beat you to it).
About The Gliders The Gliders are a group that strives to maintain high training speeds over moderate distances and maintain the integrity of the group. The average speed of our rides generally will fall between 18 and 19.5 mph. We will sometimes have a Power Glider group that will average up to 20.5 mph. You must be capable of holding these speeds for three to four hours in order to stay with the group. On most rides, we stop once at a store. If there are more than 15 riders who will participate in the pace line, please form two groups. For full information about the group, visit our web page. To participate, you must sign the safety pledge, wear a helmet, be able to change a flat tire, and have a capable road bike. You can agree to the safety pledge on our web site. If you are not a club member, you can print a membership form from our web site.

If you have not recently done so, you should read the
Riding Tips
page on our web site.
A Note About Time You should be ready to ride when you arrive at the ride start point. If you need extra time to assemble your bicycle, get dressed, or eat breakfast, plan to arrive before the scheduled meeting time. Gather around the ride leader at about five minutes before the scheduled departure time for the route briefing and introductions. If you are unable to make the gathering, let the ride leader know that you are present before the ride departs.
