I am leading a mid-level riding riding to the GCC Time
Trials Saturday from the NW Chevron The trials are staggered so those
of us who would like to participate will start among the first so that
everyone finishes around the same time. There is the
"Anything Goes" category & no obligation to have times
recorded. It's a fun way just to see how fast we can ride!

This weekend is the SEVENTH installment of the 2011

at 8:00AM** on Saturday the 10th of September.
No Registration Fees. No Race Numbers. No Pay-Outs. Just
you, the bike, and the clock*
The Gainesville 2011 TT
Challenge Series
Weather permitting, the next installment in the 2011 TT
Challenge Series will be held on Saturday, September 10th at 8AM (if the
weather is hellish we will hold it on Sunday the 11th). We will meet
at DeSoto Park in Hague, and roll out to the TT course as a group.
But don't worry if you can't make it, we've decided to extend
the series to one more date (October 1st) with awards and celebrations to
be given out one week before the Florida State Time Trial Championship
(October 8th, Olustee, FL). A map of DeSoto Park is available at:

About the 2011 Gainesville TT Challenge
The TT
Challenge is a 9.3 mile out and back time trial. It is open to anyone
that rides a bicycle. During the series, an Individual Time Trial
will be held once a month until the end of the series in October. We
will record your times and at the end of each event the results will be
published. At the end of the series we will announce the results of
the best times, best averages, and course record. The overall winner
in each category will be given a handy certificate signifying that they got
an official "Atta Boy (or Girl!)", nothing else.
There will be three categories for the challenge:
Aero -- This can be
a road bike with clip-on aerobars, or a TT bike, aero helmet, and skin
suit.
Merckx -- Road bike only, no clip-on's, no aero helmets, no
skinsuits, no wheels deeper than 30mm (I WILL have a ruler with me,
maybe)
Anything Goes -- This is for anything that is pedal driven. Trikes,
recumbents, what-have you. If you can pedal it, you can enter
it. Several groups of people have asked about a Team Time Trial
division, so this is it -- four riders maximum, time ends on the third
rider to cross the finish line.
2011 Series Leaders
Merckx -- David Gibson, 21:27
(Course Record for this category!)
Aero -- Derek Schanze, 19:49 (Course
Record for this category!)
Anything Goes -- Jim Wright and Ty Mader,
19:37 (Course Record for all categories!)
* - and of course, bragging rights..
** - Please note, you can
meet us in Brooker if you like, but it is your responsibility to be at the
starting line when we're assigning start order. If you show up to
the start line AFTER people have started, you will not be allowed to
compete -- the volunteers helping to run the TT this weekend have made it
very clear that they have other plans immediately after the event, so do
them a favor and please be on time.
