Developers will not freeze in the morning. Developers will sleep
in and ride later on their own or do the Tour de
Felasco.
A few of you asked if I was doing the "Red
Lantern" again during the Battle of Olustee. I'm not quite
up to the battle right now, so the answer is no, but there's no reason
someone else can't do it. Give me a call at 225-3585 if you want
to be the Red Lantern and need any tips. It basically involves
keeping in touch with the broom wagon (if there is one) and deciding when
enough people have dropped to make a little pack. You will also need
to convince people to turn around, wait up, ride steady, etc . . . but once
you build the pack most people will comply. Last year we had a nice
group of twelve that would have ridden in solo (and slower) if not for the
Lantern, so it's well worth it.
The only mistake I made last year was saying I would
turn around too early (mile 75), when no one had really dropped yet.
It was more like mile 90 when people started
shelling.
