HighBee Ride Update, Saturday, January 29th

I checked Weather.com and it looks like it will be 49 at 9:00am. This morning I was out around 9:30 and it was 48 and felt pretty good so let’s stay with meeting at 9:00am and rolling out at 9:15am. Looks like the Gliders are doing 44 miles, so maybe we should do the shorter version of our ride at 41 miles so we get back for the picnic at noon. We can always assess our timing when we get to Branford.

This week’s ride info:

Day: Saturday, January 29th

Time: 9:00am meeting, 9:15 departure (time dependant upon temperature forecast; stay tuned for update on Friday)

Meeting Place: Oleno State Park, High Springs, Florida

Route and Mileage: We will do the trail that starts near Oleno State Park and runs north through Fort White and Branford to Little River Preserve which is 54 miles round trip. We will wait to see what the temperature is projected to be before finalizing the distance and staring time. The goal being to do the ride and be back at Oleno in time for the Chilly Chili Picnic at 12:00 noon. If is forecast to be cold out in the morning we may make the ride start a little later and go to Branford which would be a 41 mile ride option. Please check your e-mail on Friday to verify the start time and distance.

Pace: The HighBees ride pace is about 16-17 MPH. This is a friendly, no drop ride; we re-group at all turns when needed.

If you are new to GCC and are looking for a weekly ride with a moderate pace and moderate distance, please feel free to join us.
