What's the "Strays Ichetucknee Triathlon," you ask? Why
it's, "Ride, Eat, Float/Swim," of course.
The Strays
will gather this Saturday, August 11, for our second such adventure from
Ichetucknee Springs State Park.
We will meet at the South Entrance parking lot of the park no later
than 8:45
a.m. with the goal of a 9:00 a.m. start (or earlier, if all who R.S.V.P.
are there and ready to go). We will ride either 25 or 34 miles, depending
on the consensus of the group, but the leadership is leaning toward the
former (which we did last year). The ride will go out on the Branford Trail
at least as far as Branford and return mostly on back roads (see map,
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=360129,
the short route turns around at the U.S. 27 bridge in Branford).
Upon returning to the park, we will quickly indulge in a b.y.o.
picnic lunch and then go tubing (at least once) from one of the lower tube
launch points (hopefully the midpoint).
Please R.S.V.P. for this
adventure. If enough people seriously
R.S.V.P., I may be coerced into bringing a banana pudding.
The
tubing fee is $5 per person.
What
you need to bring:
- Your bike (of course)
- Your
lunch (don't forget beverages)
- Flotation for tubing (byo or
rent before coming to the park) and you must be able to secure it in
your car while we ride.
- Swimwear unless you want to swim in your
bike shorts, I don't.
- A method of securing your bike while we tube.
I will
post another announcement around Thursday with clarifications of any issues
that are raised between now and then.

All
the usual Strays group protocols apply to this ride.
Happy trails.
