Club,
There was much chatter about a June 14th County
Board meeting concerning the 16th/23rd repaving. The item did not
make the agenda and is tentatively scheduled for the July 12th meeting.
You may want to "pencil" but not "ink" in the
evening. We are attempting to find a more comfortable location from
which to watch the public access channel and wait until the appropriate
moment to enter the meeting, rather than sit through five hours of
unrelated business like last time.
The current state of the project is that we have a
significant possibility of getting a real bike lane on the street based on
some compromises on the inner median. Engineering and planning
proposals keep creeping towards what we want, and we have been better able
to grasp the political situation vis-a-vis the neighborhood organizations
thanks to hard work by several members of the Commuter Committee.
I'm confident in saying the major players have moved from an
adversarial to a cooperative phase on this issue. That can easily
change without ongoing vigilance.
Join the Commuter Committee in the Members Area at
gccfla.org if you want more
detail, such as Commuter Committee meeting minutes and other
notes.
