The point has been raised that we did not specify the time and date for
this shindig. Well, the 4th of July is the same day all day long (it
falls on a Wednesday this year), and most rides start early and end
about Noon. Let me help out here and say that the door will be open
by
8:00 AM to drop off stuff, and that we will expect to eat about Noon.
Cheers,
George and Lee

Dear Friends:
Lee and I want to re-institute a long-standing
tradition
(passed over last year because we were WAY too committed elsewhere) and
hold a
Ride-Swim-Eat Presidential (Emeritus) Party at our house in celebration
of the
4th of July AND TO RECOGNIZE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF CHANDLER
OTIS. Yep, this really is a Chandler
Appreciation Party, and long overdue, in my opinion, for a guy who does
a great deal for the Club with not enough thanks.
There is good ride access from
6706
NW 18th Avenue to the North and
to Millhopper Road
along NW 23rd
Avenue
and NW 43rd
Street. To
the end of Millhopper and back is about 21 miles.
Drop
off swim gear and a dish to pass, leave
your motor vehicle here, and ride before swimming.
Our
house is behind North Florida Regional,
off Newberry Road
between
the Red Lobster and the Shell station.
We will provide a meat dish (Bono's
wings are being
discussed at present, but you never know 'til you get here). Bring a side dish to pass (not a dessert). A large specialized cake suitable to the
occasion will be provided by the management.
Our pool is large and has an efficient
filtration and
sanitation system, so don't be shy about jumping in all sweaty from the
ride
(we do that all the time). There are two
functioning showers on-site if you are fastidious.
BE SURE TO LET US KNOW YOU ARE COMING
(what the ladies in
white gloves call an RSVP) by 30 June at the latest so we can organize
the food. If you haven't RSVP'd by the deadline you will not be able to get
past the off-duty NTSA guards who will be securing the perimeter.
See you then,
George and Lee
