13th Annual Cruisin' In the Country Century Weekend
Hardly any other organized ride offers as many features for the fee charged as does the Claxton-Evans County Chamber of Commerce’s “Cruisin’ in the Country”. The cyclists’ needs are the foundation of the Chamber’s commitment to this event. Their support services, large volunteer base, foundation of experience and their great organization go to making “Cruisin’” a success year after year. Our community takes great pride in extending the tradition of Southern hospitality to the thousands of cyclists who have participated and continue to return for “The Best Ride in
Georgia” as Bicycling Magazine stated years ago. 16, 32, 65, 100 miles. 912-739-1391.

About The Gliders

The Gliders are a group that strives to maintain high training speeds over moderate distances and maintain the integrity of the group.  The average speed of our rides generally will fall between 18.5 and 19.8 mph, which means our cruising speed is generally over 20.  You must be capable of holding these speeds for three to four hours in order to stay with the group.  On most rides, we stop once at a store.  If there are more than 15 riders who will participate in the pace line, please form two groups.  For full information about the group, visit our web page.

To participate, you must sign the safety pledge, wear a helmet, be able to change a flat tire, and have a capable road bike.  You can agree to the safety pledge on our web site.

If you are not a club member, you can print a membership form from our web site.

If you have not recently done so, you should read the
Riding Tips
page on our web site.

A Note About Time

You should be ready to ride when you arrive at the ride start point.  If you need extra time to assemble your bicycle, get dressed, or eat breakfast, plan to arrive before the scheduled meeting time.  Gather around the ride leader at the briefing time for the route briefing and introductions.  Departure is immediately at the conclusion of the briefing (our record short briefing was 8 seconds).
