Spider worts growing along the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail.

Tuesday July 4,  Strays will ride out from the Boulware Springs end of the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail to the trails end in Hawthorne. This is a ride in the range of   32 - 34  miles. We may stop at the scenic overlooks if anyone is interested.

Meet at Boulware Springs at 8 am for an 8:15 departure. Form up in the parking lot next to the spring house for the ride start.

Ride speed range 6 - 28 mph, varying with terrain.

Average speed in recent times has typically been approaching 14 mph,  This ride is pretty flat except for a couple of small hills near the Gainesville end..

Their will be a convenience store or rest room opportunity at about every 10 miles. We may also head off the trail to visit Tim's Fast Nickel if anyone wants to do that.

No pace lines, no wheel sucking, no racing, just a fun social ride.

Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides, mirrors recommended, headphones forbidden.

Safety protocols are always observed on Strays rides.
If you have not ridden with the Strays before, you must read

After the ride the hungry might head for a restaurant, if anything is open.

For those who have not been to Boulware Springs:
Head east on University to Waldo road. Continue past Waldo Rd. (24) east on 20 from University. About a block after leaving University to continue on 20, turn right on SE 15th st. Follow SE 15th st south for 2 miles. Pass the first entrance to the Gainesville Hawthorne trail and take the next entrance on the right. This is the dirt lot.  Park in the dirt lot or in the paved lot near the spring house. There is a rest room at the
spring house, and if that is locked (as was the case recently), there is a rest room on the trail one mile out from Boulware Springs.
