The bikes are chainless because the frames are equipped with an efficient drive shaft using 7 speeds that are built in to the rear hub. The gears cover the range of 15-21 gears on a regular chain drive bike, & can be changed (using a grip shifter) in any mode---------pedaling, coasting or sitting still. There are no outboard/external drive train components...........a sweet setup!
