There will be no official Hokey Pokey ride this week, however, anyone who wants to join me in White Springs on Saturday  is welcome.  I will be attending an afternoon event in White Springs, but during the morning, I am going on a 25 mile ride on some of the most quiet and beautiful roads in north Florida.

The ride is Saturday, March 12, starting at the Florida Tourism Center in downtown White Springs.  Riders should meet at 8:45 a.m. for a 9:00 a.m. ride start.  Please e-mail me if you are coming so I will know if people are coming to ride.

The route will go from White Springs (Stephen Foster State Park) to Welborn (which has an excellent coffee shop) and back to White Springs.  White Springs is also home of the Suwannee Bicycle Association, an excellent bicycle club.

One other event in Whie Springs this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.is the White Springs Folk Club concert at the Telford Inn, a 100 year old hotel on the banks of the Suwannee River.  Magda Hiller will be playing.  The Telford also has excellent dining, including a classic southern style buffet. You may want to e-mail McKenziew@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx for musical ticket reservations.

This is NOT an official GCC ride but everyone is welcome to come on this ride (of course, you must wear a bike helmet).  Don't worry about being slow, no one is slower than me and we never leave anyone behind.

The ride will be chaperoned by the ride leader who will ride at the back of the group to make sure no one gets lost.  The ride leader is also a bicycle mechanic who can help fix flat tires and help with any other mechanical problems.

Directions to White Springs:   1) I-75 route: Take I-75 north to exit 439 (Stae Road 136).  Take SR 136 east to White Springs.  Just after you cross the bridge into High Springs, you will see the Florida Tourism Center on your left, the Suwannee Bicycle Association Clubhouse will be on the right,  just past the blinking light.  Please park on the street in front of the Suwannee Bike clubhouse.
2) US 441 route:  Take US 441 north.  In Lake City, the highway splits, take the US 41(left fork) north to White Springs.  In White Springs, turn right at the blinking light (SR 136 goes left at that point) and park by the Suwannee Bike clubhouse.

If you have questions, or if you are coming on this ride,  please E-mail me.
