The Gainesville Cycling Club will have a picnic at Paynes Prairie
State Park on Saturday, April 30. The Park is a perfect place
for family bike riding, with several miles of quiet paved roads suitable
for riders of all ages. There is also an off-road (dirt)
trail system, that has gentle trails that wind through different
ecosystems.
Ride leaders may want to plan rides that begin and/or end at the
Park. The picnic begins at 12:00 noon.
Please RSVP to the GCC website so we can get a count of how many
people to expect.
Chandler will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, salmon burgers, Boca
burgers and (if available) Johnsonville bratwursts. Please send
RSVP to chanbike@xxxxxxx if you have a
preference.
Club members are asked to bring a side dish such as a salad or desert
to round out the feast.
Directions to Paynes Prairie State Park: Take NW/SW 13th
Street (US 441) south toward Micanopy. The Park is one mile
north of Micanopy on the east (left) side of the road. If you
reach Micanopy, you have gone too far. After entering the Park,
go about 1/2 mile and turn left at the intersection. The picnic
is at the pavilion by the Lake. Park entry fees are $2 for persons on
a bike, $4 for a car with one person, $6 for cars with two or more
persons.
