Dear Friends:
The EZ Riders will join Carol Glavin and the Hokey-Pokies on
Saturday 6 August, as per details below. UNLESS TS Emily
is by then off the Atlantic Coast spinning off rainbands, in which
case we will go West away from the storm, and ride the Nature
Coast to the Suwanee River to watch the sturgeon jumping. Same
schedule, leaving from the old train depot on North Main
Street.
Keep your eyes on the weather (NOAA Hurricane Center) and on the
email for a change of plans engendered by the vagaries of the
weather. The current forecast is for her to be no factor
Saturday
morning, but the future tracks for tropical storms are notoriously
hard to predict.
Cheers,
George

Longtime GCC member Carol Glavin sent a ride notice out
earlier, so lets join her on Saturday, August 6 at the Rochelle
parking lot on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail. Riders should
meet at 8:15 for an 8:30 ride start.
The ride will be on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail, a paved
rail-trail (no cars!), perfect for new riders and families.
The
tentative ride will be to Hawthorne and back, 16 miles.
Everyone is welcome to come on this ride (of course,
you must wear a bike helmet). Don't worry about being
slow, no one is slower than me and we never leave anyone
behind.
The ride will be chaperoned by the ride leader who
will ride at the back of the group to make sure no one
gets lost. The ride leader is also a bicycle mechanic
who can help fix flat tires and help with any other
mechanical problems.
Directions to Rochelle: Go
east on
University Avenue, go over Waldo Road. About 1/4 mile
east of Waldo Road, take the right fork in the road,
which is State Road 20. Go about 5 miles east on SR
20,
and cross the bridge over Prairie Creek. About 1/4
mile
past the bridge, turn right onto County Road 2082. Go
about 1/2 mile, the Rochelle parking lot will be on the
right, at the intersection of CR 2082 and CR 234.
Why Hokey Pokey rides?
Cause that's what it's all about!
