Oh, I forgot to mention that this ride is open to HighBees, TweenBees, LoBees or any other Bees that want to join the ride, except for Bumble Bees!! Riders wanting to do a shorter version can turn back at an earlier point.

Subject: GCCMail: HighBee and Others Ride/ Saturday, April 3rd/ Withlacoochee State Trail

This week’s ride info:

This week we’re going to shake it up a little and do something we haven’t done before. We’ll meet at the Publix parking lot next to the Kangaroo at SW 34th Street and Williston Road. No, we’re not going to ride to the Withlacoochee from there. We’ll see if anyone wants to consolidate cars and drive fewer cars to Inverness; and we’ll leave from there to go down I-75 to SR 44, then right to the Inverness Trailhead. See the directions on the map using the link below. It will also show you the route for the ride. We’ll ride south from Inverness to the Ridge Manor Trailhead and return from there making about a 48-50 mile ride. I’ve ridden it before, and I think this is the best section of the trail. The part to the north is a little boring and the part south or Ridge Manor is a little seedy.

Special Note:  Since this ride is different than our usual rides, I would appreciate it if those that plan to attend reply to this e-mail, just so I’ll know how many are planning to go; or if this is a totally off the wall idea and nobody wants to do it. of course, in a day or so, once I get some responses I’ll send out a follow up e-mail to confirm if the ride is on; so please reply as soon as you know if you will be going.

Following the ride, those that want to can grab some lunch in the historic section of downtown Inverness. There are a couple of good places there that are frequented by cyclists and it is close to the trailhead.

Day: Saturday, April 3rd

Time: 8:00am meeting, 8:15 departure (From the parking lot at Publix—not the ride) I think we’ll be in Inverness and ready to ride about 9:15 – 9:30am

Meeting Place: Kangaroo, on the corner of SW 34th St and Williston Road. See info for meeting and caravanning to Inverness above.

Route and Mileage: 48-50 miles round

Pace: The HighBees ride pace is about 16-17 MPH. This is a friendly, no drop ride.

If you are new to GCC and are looking for a weekly ride with a moderate pace and moderate distance, please feel free to join us.

Thanks,

Mike
