It is a folding stand that holds a conventional bike by the top tube so it is easier to work on. When unfolded the base is about 3 feet wide; folded it is about as thick as an ironing board (for those that remember those). It is not a portable table, or trainer, or whatever else you may imagine. It holds the bike so derailleurs or brakes can be adjusted, wheels can be removed so maintenance can be done on them, or cassetes or flats changed, etc. It is portable when folded so it can be tossed in your trunk going to an event, or folded and leaned against the wall in your garage. It is similar to what the mechanic in your LBS uses, but is not as heavy duty - because it is portable and meant for consumer use. $45

Sorry for the mis-understandings this has generated - judging from some of the questions I have gotten I guess these are not as common as they once were.
