Check out this site below...read the story of 29 May about the swimmer....when I go to the dentist for my semi-annual cleaning...I will bring this up BEFORE they clean.  Guess these things can happen anytime to anyone in any physical condition.

New fact: I had had my teeth cleaned on 13 May.  My sinuses started to go south the following week, but I fought it with decongestants, salt sprays, etc for another two weeks before I went to see the doctor.  I had a sinus infection on June 18th and got antibiotics that afternoon...which is the same day I started to experience short term (5-10 seconds) lightheadeness and dizzyness the morning of that day...recall that I chalked it up to the sinus infection.  It is now obvious that I was having some heart signs that day.  Friday with antibiotics I felt fine...I felt fine on the Sat morning ride of 20 June...then things caved in.

I will never know...but it seems within the realm of possibility that there was a domino effect in progress....the teeth cleaning releasing bacteria into my blood stream may be associated with the sinus infection which set me up for some plaque to break free and wave in my circumflex artery blood stream.  I probably had a partial passing blockage on Thur 18 June.  Since I was also taking a highly absorbent iron supplement (for better aerobic capacity)...and these kinds of bacteria need iron to grow and my genetics had already produced plaque...I unknowingly had a perfect storm going on inside my heart.  Even though the antibiotics worked nicely on the bacteria, the endothelial lining of that artery was already damaged...plaque was probably hanging on by sticky threads.  Riding that day with the boost in HR and sometimes BP during serious efforts like climbing Underwood Hill...set it all in motion.  Here is the site:
