Hello, guys and two girls... 1 - Thanks for the longer Sunrise ride...by the time I got back to the Chevron I had covered 55 miles. A big thanks to Paul for orchestrating the ride and later riding me back onto the group during a middle phase of the route. 2 - From Hunters Chevron, I rolled on to Race Track Road & into the occasional teeth of that E wind...then turned up RT Road for ~4 miles, then did a 180 and rode the ENE wind home for a total of 80.08 miles...and was still home before noon. For various reasons like a dropped water bottle and getting dropped on Chestnut...I rode about 1/2 of that 40 miles solo. Since I survived solo ~18-19 mph...that's a good sign. Then I was eating a Mi Apa fried pork sandwich & drinking a beer by 1230 pm. 3 - That is the first time I have ridden the Poe Springs route that direction since June 2009. It was great to ride up over Underwood and Chestnut Hills...and be able to ride another ~40 miles instead of a quick trip to North Florida. 4 - I will see some of you for spinning a 100 miles on 14 May. Hope it is a gorgeous day, like today, windy or calm...just be gorgeous. spin the hills...Bob Howland |
