To Team VetMed and GCC Riders,

Weather Notice: In the event it appears there will be rain at ride time, I’ll send an e-mail by 4:30pm on Wednesday with my best judgment as to whether we should proceed with the ride or not. Each rider is free to make their own decision as to whether to ride or not.

The Team VetMed Wednesday ride will start at 5:30pm. Please plan to be there in time to start the ride at that time. We’ll be doing our usual 28.5 mile route going out to the GHT, then to Angle Rd, then to Micanopy for a rest stop at the Pearl Store and up 441 across Payne’s Prairie to Williston Rd, west to SW 23 Terr., north to Old Archer Rd, east to where it joins Archer Rd at the turn off to SW 16 Ave and back to the VAB. We should be returning around 7:15-7:30. If you have lights for your bike it is a good idea to bring them, especially having some bikes with a blinky (WE NEEDED THEM LAST WEEK) on the back is a good idea. If there are any weather problems on Wednesday prior to ride time and a cancellation is in order, I’ll send out an e-mail at that time.

A word about pace and dropping riders. Our typical riding pace is about 17-18 MPH. There are times like the last mile before the rest stop at the Pearl Store and again right before the end of the ride where there is a sprint for those who care to participate in it. Otherwise, let’s please try to maintain the integrity of the group during the ride. If you see that you are getting dropped, please speak up and say something before you are dropped off the back end where no one can hear you. Complaining about it later does no good. If you are riding near the back of the ride and see someone being dropped please pass it forward. With a good size group it is hard for the leader to see what is happening in the back sometimes. If someone lets you know they are being dropped, please pass it up. In such event we’ll stop if necessary, but hopefully be able to soft pedal for a bit allowing the dropped rider to get back on. The main object of the ride is to have fun and a good work out; so let’s all try to do that.

Any problems feel free to call my cell, 665-6100.
