The Gainesville Cycling Club will have its Earth Day picnic on Sunday,  April 20 at the San Felasco trailhead.   Ride leaders may want to schedule rides that start and/or end at the San Felasco Trailhead.   Road rides could meet at the Progress Center parking lot, off-road rides should meet at the San Felasco trailhead.

Food will begin about noon.

The picnic theme is our annual "Spaghetti Sauce Contest."   Chandler will make a big pot of tomato/vegetarian sauce and cook lots of pasta (spaghetti and fetucine).  Club members may want to bring their best sauce creation, either meat or veggie.  Members can also bring  special pasta, which we can cook. The club will also provide tossed salad and soft drinks.

Club members may also want to bring deserts or other edible goodies to the feast.

Please bring friends and family.  This is a good opportunity to introduce friends to the joy of bike riding and the fellowship of food.

Chandler will need help to feed the masses.
1)  We will need a "Salad Queen/King" to help mix and toss the salad (Chandler will do all the prep work, the lettuce and veggies will be in ziplock bags, all you do is mix and present to the masses).
2)  One or two Host/Hostesses to set up the plates, paper goods and covered dishes, and then help supervise the serving line.
3) One or two personal slaves, to help Chandler with pots of boiling water and draining pasta.
4) A turkey frying gas stove, to keep a big pot of water hot for various uses (I think the Club has one)

Let me know if you can help, especially with the personal slave job.

One Earth Day thought:  bring your own personal plate, fork, knife, spoon, napkin and cup.  That way we don't use paper products, which is truly earth friendly.  If I get enough help, I can set up a dishwashing station for those who bring non-disposable dinnerware.

San Felasco State Park is 10 miles north of Gainesville on US 441, just south of downtown Alachua.  Take US 441  north and turn west (left) onto Progress Drive at the Progress Center. Take Progress Drive to the park entrance, entry fee to the park is $2 per car full of people.
