Beautiful High Bees trip from Micanopy today with wonderful friends! It was an excellent Bees pace and a yummy end at Blue Highway a Pizzaria. Michael, once again, you've made an excellent Thanks!

Subject: GCCMail: HighBee Ride/ Saturday, August 28th

This week’s ride info:

Day: Saturday, August 28th

Time: 8:00 am meeting, 8:15 am departure

Meeting Place: Micanopy, in downtown at the end of the street where we usually meet.

Route and Mileage: We will do the southern portion of the Lowell Ride which should by my estimate be around 40-45 miles.

Pace: The HighBees ride pace is about 16-17 MPH. This is a friendly, no drop ride; we re-group at all turns when needed.

If you are new to GCC and are looking for a weekly ride with a moderate pace and moderate distance, please feel free to join us.

Membership Requirements: Please note that HighBee rides are open to all GCC members who wish to participate. Those that are non-members may ride with the group as a guest of a sponsoring member once without being required to be a member.

This is a really nice ride that we haven’t done in a long time, so it should be fun. We can make one or more rest stops as needed, like Lowell and McIntosh.

Special Notes:

  1. Since Bob Newman who leads the LoBees is out of town and I haven’t seen anther ride posted for the LoBees and also since some of the LoBees including Bob have started riding with the HighBees to do a little faster and longer ride, I would like to invite the LoBees and any TweenBees to join us for this ride.
  2. I noted that there were some e-mails following last week’s ride about the pace of the ride getting beyond the scope of the normal HighBee ride. Everyone respects and admires the athleticism of the Glider and some of the HighBee riders that got caught in the fervor of the moment. For the sake of the typical HighBee rider and for the benefit of the LoBee and TweenBee riders that may be joining the HighBee ride this week, let’s please maintain the typical pace throughout the ride. If the stronger riders want to do a sprint for the last mile or so coming into a rest stop, I don’t see any problem with that; so go for it. We’ll re-group there.
