This
week’s
ride info: Day: Saturday, April 9th
Time: 8:00am meeting, 8:15 departure (Please note
we
are starting earlier as it is going to be hot later and it will be 62 for
the
overnight; so we’ll get out and enjoy the cooler morning air which
will
soon leaving us to be replaced by our usual stifling hot summer
weather) Meeting Place: Parking lot across the street from
Conestoga’s Steakhouse on Route and Mileage: We’ll ride from Alachua up 241 to CR
239A
to SR 121 to Pace: The HighBees ride pace is about 17-18 MPH.
This
is a friendly, no drop ride; we re-group at all turns when needed and will
soft
pedal when gapping. A word about pace and dropping
riders. Our typical riding pace is about 17-18 MPH. Please try to maintain
the
integrity of the group during the ride. If you see that you are getting
dropped, please speak up and say something before you are dropped off the
back
end where no one can hear you. Complaining about it later does no good. If
you
are riding near the back of the ride and see someone being dropped please
pass
it forward. With a good size group it is hard for the leader to see what is
happening in the back sometimes. If someone lets you know they are being
dropped,
please pass it up. In such event we’ll stop if necessary, but
hopefully
be able to soft pedal for a bit allowing the dropped rider to get back on.
The
main object of the ride is to have fun and a good work out; so let’s
all
try to do that. If you are new to GCC and are
looking for a weekly ride with a moderate pace and moderate distance,
please
feel free to join us. Membership
Requirements: Please note that HighBee rides are open to all GCC members who
wish to
participate. Those that are non-members may ride with the group as a guest
of a
sponsoring member once without being required to be a member.
