Dear Friends:

The EZ Riders will poke along with the Hokey Pokies this Saturday 9 April, departing from the Fanning Springs Trailhead of the Nature Coast Trail, as described below.  Note that the directions provided are to the Fanning Springs trailhead, not Trenton.

As with Chandler, I would like an RSVP if you plan to join us, so I can advise Chandler of what to expect.

We may cut the ride a little short so we can spend more time at the Garden Festival.

Questions?  333.3184, or via email.

See you Saturday.

George

The Hokey Pokey group will visit the Fanning Springs Garden Festival on Saturday, April 9.  Riders should gather at the Fanning Springs Trailhead (see directions below) at 8:45 a.m. for a 9:00 start time.

Fanning Springs is the hub of the Nature Coast Trail, a paved rail trail.  Chandler will lead a ride to Chiefland, a 22 mile round trip.  The big feature on the trail is the bridge over the Suwannee River, a railroad bridge coverted into a bicycle/pedestrian bridge, which is only three miles from Fanning Springs.

Check out the Garden Festival at www.FanningSpringsGardenFestival.com   The festival theme is how to landscape using native vegetation.   There will also  be events for children, games, prizes and (yummy!) food vendors. Entry to the park is free for the festival.

Everyone is welcome is come on this ride (of course, you must wear a bike helmet).  Don't worry about being slow, no one is slower than me and we never leave anyone behind.

The ride will be chaperoned by the ride leader who will ride at the back of the group to make sure no one gets lost.  The ride leader is also a bicycle mechanic who can help fix flat tires and help with any other mechanical problems.

Directions to Trenton Trailhead:  Go west on State Road 26 (University Avenue, Newberry Road) and go through Newberry and then to Trenton.  Continue straight on SR 26 to Fanning Springs.  At Fanning Springs  turn right (west) on US 19/98.  The Fanning Springs trailhead parking lot is 1/4 mile on the right, Fanning Springs Sate Park is another 1/4 mile on the left.

If possible, please RSVP to this e-mail so we know how many people to expect.

If you have questions, please E-mail me.

Chandler Otis
