Shades of Baby Snakes... Nanci captures another pet on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail

Saturday September 23,  Strays will ride out from Tim's Fast Nickel to Windsor, around Newnans Lake, and then to Boulware Springs and back for a total ride of about 32 - 35 miles. We may stop at the overlooks if anyone is interested.

Meet at Tim's Fast Nickel at 8:15 am for an 8:30 departure.  Tim says its ok to park on the grass. Best plan, park along the fence on the western edge of the lot.

Ride speed range 5 - 36 mph, varying with terrain.

Average speed in recent times has typically been approaching 14 mph.  This ride is mostly flat, except for a couple of small hills near the Gainesville end of the GHT, and the moderate hills of Kincaid Road.

There will be a convenience store or rest room opportunity about every 10 miles.

No pace lines, no wheel sucking, no racing, just a fun social ride.

After the ride the hungry will eat Tim's barbecue, unless circumstances dictate otherwise. Bring a picnic blanket or a chair to eat lunch under the shade of the big tree.  Tim is not being allowed to keep a standing setup for picnicking on the premises, but we are allowed to provide our own. Barbecue lunch runs about $8, Tim gives you a plenty of food for your money, so you will probably have leftovers.

Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides, mirrors recommended, headphones forbidden.

Safety protocols are always observed on Strays rides
