That's probably the most sensible Overall recommendation I've read to date on this subject.
Road improvement and increased traffic is a well known city planning outcome -- Anthony Downs
has been writing about it for decades. Adding lanes does NOT decrease congestion over time, it simply provides for further development. And, IMO, that's just what we don't need in this gorgeous
section of the county.
Southern Alachua and Northwestern Marion County are, imho, two of the most beautiful places in
the state. We ought to work to keep it that way.

As to the original editorial published in the paper, my first thought was that if the driver has a hard time sharing the road safely with trucks, buses, bicycles, et al, they probably don't belong behind the wheel but that's another problem in itself.
