Well, bike trainers are one of only two topics I kinda know something about.

If money is not an issue, CompuTrainers - racermate.com - are generally considered top of the line. Those, along with Tacx I-magic, Tacx Fortius, CycleOps, and others can be combined with this program called NetAthlon - fitcentric.com - which allows you to ride virtual courses LIVE against others all over the world.

If you're familiar with playing HALO (xbox) or NFL Live through GameSpy...well...it's the same thing.

If you're cheap like Ken, well, have a Car Wash, do what he did and get subscription to NetFlix.

By the way, you can test ride some of the trainers I mentioned at the UF & Shands Performance Institute....ask for Jeff.

I've got a saris cyclops-2 which I picked up from Chain Reaction last
year.  It's a fluid trainer, which is supposed to simulate wind
resistance better.  Being the (enterprising person, cheapskate, pick
one) that I am, I didn't buy a riser block and instead I use a phonebook
to prop up the front wheel.

BTW -- disclaimer coming: trainer workouts can be miserably boring.  My
suggestion to help pass the time away is to set the trainer up in front
of the idiot box and get caught up on the movies you've missed over the
past year (or three), and make sure to have a fan blowing on you.

Good luck!
