I've never been able to loosen cleat screws on cleats I've walked on except MTB cleats after I use a dental tool to remove the packed dirt. Two things happen: the tool hole is smeared over
the screw rounds out
Try this. Drill a starter hole in the screw head, about 1/8th inch dia.
Use a drill bit slightly larger than the threaded part and drill the head off.
Remove the threaded stubs with a pair of pliers. They are not tight in the shoe.
The screw is ruined, new screws come with new cleats, or Zells Hdw. has a good selection of metric screws.
