![]() Lydia and Allen take a break on the Henderson Trestle
bridge on the Withlacoochee Trail
Sunday March 25, Strays will cycle the middle
portion
of the Withlacoochee Rail Trail (the most scenic portion)
between
Inverness (Lake Henderson Trestle) and Nobleton (intersection of 476) for
a 33- 35 mile ride. We
may
also ride some pleasant shaded side roads,as an alternative to the trail on
the
way back, if traffic is light. We will likely stop at any sights of
interest,
visit trail bike shops, and take pictures of flowers, scenery and
animals.
Your leader for this ride will be Allen
Kushner.
Arrive at the Inverness Trail Headquarters parking lot in
Inverness at
10 am for a 10:15 departure.
Average speed has typically been 13 -
14 mph in recent times for the Strays. This ride is
quite
flat.
Post ride the hungry will head to a local restaurant,
probably Stumpknockers in Inverness.
No pacelines, no racing, no wheel sucking, just a fun social
ride.
Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides,
mirrors recommended, headphones
forbidden.
Safety protocols are always observed
on
Strays rides
NEW RIDERS must read the
following
before joining us:
Any other questions:
Inverness is about 65 miles from Gainesville.
Once in Inverness, look for the court house. Take the one way
street around the court house to N. Apopka Ave. and go north on it.
You
will run in to the trail about half a mile north of the court house. The
trail
headquarters parking lot will be on the left before crossing the bike
trail.
