I've received a good response regarding the cyclocross rides so
I'm scheduling the first one for Saturday July 9th. We will meet at
Bike Works in Jonesville and roll out promptly at 8:00 a.m. If
you drive there please do not park directly in front of Bike Works or other
businesses so as to not tie up parking spaces for other customers.
These rides will be scheduled to coordinate with the GCC south rides
(i.e. the cross rides will be on Saturdays that the GCC ride goes south),
per the request of several people. The rides will be 3-4 hours in
length. I usually do not stop for water but if anyone needs to do so
we will certainly make a quick stop. The pace will be similar to a
GCC A ride with maybe some attacks that
can happen when competitive-natured people ride self-propelled
vehicles.
Again these rides can be done on a cyclocross bike or a
mountain bike. 29er hardtails (with gears of course) work best for
the mountain bike category. A long travel 26er is not recommended
unless you have the DNA of Julien Absalon. Of course a Paris-Roubaix
purist would be fine on a road bike.
I will try to send out a route with a ride reminder a few days before
each of these rides.
Look forward to seeing some of you on the
9th!
