GCC friends,

Adventure Cycling Association has invited cyclists across the US to participate in Bike Overnight Weekend (Friday, 06/03 - Sunday 06/05/16).

In response, I invite you to join us on GCC's first-ever Bike Overnight, the Hogtown to the Heights ride.

I have posted a brief synopsis of the ride on the Adventure Cycling Bike Overnights link above.   Details and updates are available on the Friends of the Gainesville Cycling Club event.

The Hogtown to the Heights ride will be a Friday to Sunday trip.  (It is a 2-night trip due to the State Park's 2-night minimum weekend cabin rental).  I rate the ride as an EASY level of difficulty.  You will ride with experienced cycle tourists/road cyclists who have toured many times.  The pace of the ride will be conversational; we will stick together, and the slowest rider will not be left behind. We will have places to stop and rest, eat, and drink along the route. We will stop in Keystone Heights for supplies before our final approach to the park.  We will sleep in air conditioned cabins (so, NO TENT CAMPING)!  The cost is quite reasonable for the accommodations. The park itself is pretty spectacular.  Because we are staying a second night, you'll have the chance to hike, canoe, swim, relax, and otherwise explore. Maybe we can ride into town for a meal together on Saturday night, if we don't organize a cookout.  Your ride leaders are flexible.

Two cabins that each sleep 4 (in 2 double beds) have been rented.  At most, 6 additional riders can join us (8, total).

If you have ever thought of riding your bike to an easily-accessible overnight destination, but weren't sure about it, this could be a great starter tour for you.

Don't hesitate to contact me with questions!    But, don't wait. Book your spot on this fun, friendly, very doable ride ASAP, especially if you'd like to have a bed to yourself.

Cost will be determined by final head count, but won't be more than $75/person for lodging for the 2-night stay.  Obviously, sharing the cabin with others will decrease that cost.

Hope you can join us!
