Sorry about not getting a post out last week. Here's this weekends
schedule. Please note, as of this morning, there is a 70% chance of
rain for Saturday's ride. There's also a very good chance of Tebow
and
company beating up the Tide and going 13 and 0 coming into the national
championship game. Saturday-SOUTH,
December 5th: Meet at 9 am, depart at 9.15 am on the GWBL.
Sunday-NORTH,
December 6th: Meet at 9 am, depart at 9.15
am. About the GWBL rides: Some people have asked me
about the pace of the GWBL rides, and if
they're as "animated" as the A-rides can sometimes be. Usually the
question is phrased along the lines of "Will the GWBL ride be really
tough? Would I get dropped and stranded somewhere between Lake City
and Pascagula?" Well, the GWBL is
much more structured than normal A-rides, and are suitable for any
rider who considers theirself to be at least "glider" level. The GWBL
could be considered "winter base" training, but with a few
modifications (there may be a short rotation, or there may be a sprint
or two). Indeed, Coach Pfaff has been keeping such strict reins on
the
GWBL rides that the past two weekends have seen average speeds of about
19mph for the entire duration of the ride (minus the sprints and
rotations, of course). And, riders who do not
wish to participate in the sprints, or rotation, are encouraged to just
sit in and relax; we will wait for you after a sprint or rotation and
not leave you stranded in Mississippi. I promise. So, come out and try the
GWBL ride this Saturday and see what it's all about! Who knows, you
might enjoy it! About the Helmets
are required on all GCC Rides. Expect mileage to be in the 50-70+ range
with one rest stop. Routes are determined prior to the ride depending
on which way the wind is blowing and who shows up. Routes are agreed
upon by consensus the morning of and may change en route. Speed is
consistent 20 + mph during the ride. With surges exceeding 25 mph (and
sometimes 30 mph). A- Riders do respect all road safety rules, but do
not respect a specific speed limit, especially after the rest stop.
We
will often regroup at major intersections before the rest stop, but not
necessarily after the rest stop. NORTHERN
