Dear Friends:

We may be having a rain-free Hogmanay, but a glance at NOAA's website does not inspire hope for tomorrow.  There is an energetic cold front West of us, moving this way, due to arrive this evening sometime.  Perhaps it will accelerate and be offshore by 9:00 AM (we live in hope), but don't count on it.

Keep you eyes on the weather and on the email - if it looks bad at 8:00 AM I will post a cancellation.

Cheers,

George

Dear Friends:

To continue the tradition of spending New Years Day doing what you hope
to be doing the rest of the year, the EZ Riders will lead a gently-paced
tour of
the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail on Monday 1 January 2007. We will leave
the Boulware Springs Park trailhead at 9:30 AM, and return around Noon,
thence to retire to Sonny's, just about the only place open on New Years
Day.

We will ride as much of the Trail as you feel up to, and no more, and
most likely at a speed not exceeding 12 mph (actual not claimed).

I plan to park in the parking lot nearest the Pumphouse, which is the
more southerly entrance off SE 15th Street.

Bring water, sunscreen, whatever. We might stop at a couple of
overlooks, but there will not be much in the wildflower department at
this time of year.

Please note that everyone is welcome on this ride. The EZ Riders maintain
no membership list, and there are no requirements for "membership" in
the group: If you want to ride with us, you are one of us. If our pace
is uncomfortably slow for some, they are welcome to ride on ahead and
join us at the end. This is easy on a trail. We leave no one behind,
and adjust our ride length to suit the wishes of the riders. We are
going out for fun, fresh air, and camaraderie, so no one should mistake
us for serious cyclists.

Call me at 333-3184 with questions.

See you Monday.

Cheers,

George
