Please note the upcoming events at San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park:
- Tour de Felasco registration opens today at noon (12:00 P.M.) and is expected to fill quickly. This annual bicycle event, scheduled for January 12, 2013, is the main fundraiser for the park. Many thanks to those of you who participate as a rider or a volunteer. For more information, see http://www.sanfelasco.net/tour.shtml. Requests for volunteers will be sent later this month.
- Trails work day, Sat, Oct 13, 9 AM to noon: This month's work day will be coordinated by CSO Board member Kevin Mayer. Due to the rainy summer, trail maintenace in a number of areas is needed, so all help is appreciated. After the workday, lunch is provided. Bring small hand tools if you have them (loppers, pruning shears, hand saws) and gloves, sunscreen, bug repellent, water bottle, and good humor! Meet at the CSO building at park headquarters (12720 NW 109th LN, Alachua, directions below).
- Florida Soaring Society Thermal Duration Contest, Sat Oct 13 and Sun Oct 14, 9 AM: RC (radio-control) pilots participate in a hand-launched glider event. For more information, see http://soar-fss.org/.
- Gone Riding Florida State Championship, Sun Oct 21, 9 AM: Series 5 of this bicycle event provides competitive opportunties for cyclists of various levels. For more information, see http://goneriding.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=628&Itemid=319.

Directions to the CSO building and park headquarters

From Gainesville:
Go north on CR 241 and just after the I-75 overpass, turn right on NW 109th Lane. Go 1.1 miles on NW 109th Lane to a break in a black 4 rail fence on the left (east) side of the road. At the official state park sign, turn left. Drive past a horse paddock and pole barn to the metal CSO building.
From Alachua:
Go south on CR 241 until just before the I-75 overpass. Turn left on NW 109th Lane and continue as above.
