GCC Friends:

Florida Outdoor Academy's Cyclist First Aid Class, originally  scheduled for Sunday, August 23rd,  has been rescheduled to Saturday, August 15th.

This is your chance to be the cyclist other cyclists want to ride with. If you have ever been (or dreamed of being) a volunteer SAG driver, and wondered what you would do if you were the one who found a cyclist injured on the side of the road. or if you lead group rides, or if you just don't want to feel helpless in case of the inevitable bike riding  mishap, this class may be for you.

Learn what needs a Band-Aid, and what needs the ICU, STAT!  Get a little personal peace of mind, or go ahead and use that certificate as proof of your street cred as the SAG volunteer every ride organizer wants at their event!

Joking aside: you may already have seen or been involved in a bike crash with injuries, and felt helpless to do anything while waiting for the professional rescue personnel to arrive. If you are afraid of the legal ramifications of helping an ill or injured person, don't be. Florida, like other states, has a "Good Samaritan" law that protects you from being sued for rendering aid to another person in distress.  Wouldn't it be good to feel comfortable doing what you can to assess and aid an injured person until help arrives?

Visit the course's Facebook event, or contact course director Clay Gibbons directly at (352) 727-4733.

Cost is $79.  If you can't make this one, additional classes will be offered in future.
