Club,

Soon, announcements of news features and news articles will appear on the same email as the Ride Calendar.  Until that time I will notify you of news updates.

I decided to open with a PROVOCATIVE essay entitled:

"John Forrester is Dead: Cycling Advocacy and the Post-Urban Renaissance."

The teaser should whet your appetite.  I basically argue that the radical purist notion of vehicular cycling (to which I formerly adhered) does not look like anything happening in the post-urban Renaissance cities that are transforming the American cycling landscape.  Those who say we "aren't Amsterdam" need to look at the street parties, eventing, reformed Critical Mass, sharrows, contra-lanes, segregated paths, and radical designs and events that are turning anti-cycling stalwarts like New York, L.A., and Chicago into driving machines of transformation.  (FYI--John Forrester is the godfather of vehicular cycling).

You can find it in the Members Area under the "News" button at gccfla.org.  If you forgot your username and password look up GCC Newsletter for your last emailed newsletter--your information should be there.

Enjoy, and look to the Ride Calendar in the future for news.
