Hi fellow GCC members!

Tyler's Hope charity is holding 15k and 5k races on the Gainesville-Hawthorne trail this Saturday (December 13) morning. If you plan to ride out there that morning be aware that there will be a lot of foot traffic that day, so use caution and moderate your speed. Actually, using caution and moderating your speed is a good idea on the trail at all times. :-)

Tyler's Hope is looking for a bicycle volunteer to help at the race. I believe they need a course monitor to ride up and down to check on the status of the runners, determine the ETA of the slowest runners/walkers, and call 911 in case of emergency, that kind of thing. The race begins at 9 AM, so I think a volunteer would be required from around 8:30 to 11:30/noon-ish?

If you are interested in helping, please contact the race director Leslie Okun by phone at 352-262-6315.

Here's the website for the race for those interested in some crosstraining; you can register the morning of the race too: http://www.tylershope.org/Events_Registration/Season_of_Hope.aspx

Happy riding,
