GCC Friends,

It's that time again.  Time to come out and ride the 2nd Annual Cranksgiving Alley Cat, brought to you by Pleasant Cyclery and GetActive GNV, and supported by other great local businesses.  Sunday, Nov. 23rd, at Pleasant Cyclery (formerly known as the 8th Ave Bike & Coffee House), 234 NW 8th Ave.  Registration starts at 1:00 p.m., and the race starts at 2 p.m.

Bring $10 cash to purchase non-perishable food items at designated stores along the route.   (No, there will be no frozen turkeys).   Think of it as a scavenger hunt on your bike!  You be given a list of checkpoints where you'll either make a small food purchase or be expected to perform some silly or fun task before heading to the next stop.  Whatever assignment, you had better move quickly, because the Cranksgiving Alley Cat is a race!  Prizes will be awarded to the first finishers in several classes.

Visit the checkpoints in whatever order you like, based on your expert knowledge of Gainesville's streets, but you must visit them all  (and be able to show proof), so be sure to document completion of each assigned task, and save those receipts!    It is difficult?  No way!  Is it fun?  Yes!  Will it benefit St. Francis House during the holidays, when they have the greatest need?  Absolutely!!

All cyclists are welcome.  Ride any bike, trike, unicycle, or tandem, but please bring a helmet.  Helpful hint:  you will need some means of carrying all of that canned pumpkin and cranberry sauce back to the start/finish point. So, a backpack, basket, or pannier is highly recommended.

Updates will be posted by the event organizers on the Cranksgiving Alley Cat Facebook event.

See you there,

-Ally
