New Wed Developers Format
When the group is as large as it was this week (33) or anything above about 15 riders, we will let a slower group leave from the shop and do the Parker-Alacha-Berry Route. This will continue always to be a no drop teaching ride for newbies and those that want a slower roll of 18 mph. Each week a different Adv Developer/A Rider/Ride Leader type person will lead this ride. We will try to make it so that both groups meet back about the same time so I can open up for post-ride beverages.
BTW, Thanks for your beverage contributions. As big as the ride has got (16 people drinking beer last week!) we will rely on these contributions to maintain the beer fridge.
The faster group and slow ride graduates will do the Original Developers Route (North and West and back through Newberry). This will be a drop ride after a certain section, with no stops or flat patrols (unless by choice). This group will sometimes engage in disciplined competitive tactics that involve regrouping and waiting for dropped riders. Anyone riding with us that does not follow the rules or no-drop zones will be asked to sit out the next ride, including A riders.
I want to warn all riders (Haile, A, Dev, Adv Dev, etc . . . ) that we will be noting repeated bike lane and car passing violations. You will be asked to sit out next week if you repeatedly break the rules. I hate to have to do this, but the ride is becoming too big and we have too many newbies to misbehave. The consequences could be serious. That said, I think we are improving.
Adv Developers will meet Sat with the Sunrise Ride (re-timed at 7:00 a.m. from the Chevron). This is a short and fast ride with regrouping at turns and stops. It's kind of a "no-drop A ride" that can get up to speeds of 25 and 26 sometimes. There are a lot of "mini-races" inside this ride, quite fun.
Sunday we will meet with the A ride for a long one (check emails for route and location and time).
Great time to test your mettle, just be sure and be humble (don't pull!).
See you there.
