Greetings cyclists,

The second phase of the Archer Braid Trail is nearing completion and election day for the primary is August 26th. Because of these two related events, I am planning a small event to increase awareness of the Archer Braid Trail, active transportation advocacy, and Harvey Ward’s campaign for county commissioner.

Participants are meeting at 5208 SW 91st Way (in the Haile Village) on Saturday morning at 8:30am before riding out to the trail. We will have a very casual ride on the ABT through Haile and then show our support with signs at the corner of SW 46th Blvd and SW 91st St. This event is not an official ride and is not sponsored by any group.

Early voting is taking place Saturday at Tower Road Library, which is a short distance by bike, if you wish to vote after the event. You can also bike to support local businesses at the farmers’ market in the Village.

I remember the many, many meetings, e-mails and petitioners during the long fight for the Archer Braid Trail. I also remember the commissioners who voted against it again and again. One of those commissioners is running for re-election. I support the Archer Braid Trail and facilities like it, therefore, it is important to me that commissioners who support bicycle infrastructure are voted into office. Because the ballot contains elections for the commissioners who make the decisions about our transportation, there are absolutely bike issues on this ballot. This primary is when many county decisions about bikes will be decided long before they actually go before the board of county commissioners. Cyclists can decide these elections. Your vote counts.

Please contact me directly (and not the whole list) if I can answer any questions.

Hope to see you there,
