Good morning everybody,
Yesterday, the Gainesville cycling community lost one of it's members, Team Florida member and University of Florida student, Michael Edmonds. Some of the A riders will remember meeting Michael, he was becoming a regular fixture on the Thursday North side of town rides. You may recall his name from another unfortunate incident earlier this year, when a car collided with him and fellow UF student, Team Florida and GCC member, Amanda Adams.
The President of Team Florida cycling, Dustin White, has invited anybody who knew Michael to pay their respects during his Memorial ride. The ride is happening this Wednesday, April 18th at Turlington (The Rock) at 6:15 PM, roll out 6:30 PM. I plan on attending, I hope others can make it. If you have any questions about the meeting place, please contact me individually off the list-serv.
Regards,
Jayson
Good morning everyone,After taking input from some of our members who knew Mike best, we decided to hold a memorial ride for him this Thursday, April 19th. We plan to do a truly Team Florida classic ride by meeting in Turlington at 6:15 PM, roll out 6:30 PM, ride the lakeshore loop, then end the ride at the stadium to pay our respects (approximately 7:30 PM).Those of you who plan other Thursday rides (the Hipp and North Ride) please feel free to cancel them if you would like and join our cause. The more people we have attend the better so please spread this word!Lastly, Mike had been talking to me wanting to make a grand return to racing at Conference Championships. We thought about making this a weekend ride but his roommate and dear friend Holly put it well... she sent me an email wanting to attend conference because she knew it was what Mike would want. Mike wanted the best for us all so please if you do race or ride somewhere this weekend, continue to keep him in your heart and honor him as you see fit.Sincerely,--
