Once again the ride leader’s dilemma of GO or NOGO is whether or not to
take a chance that there will only be light rain or showers, when all you can see is green & yellow on radar coming over the ride route. This is what I see on the computer, green already turning to yellow and orange before the sun comes up and light rain currently. Since this pattern has included severe lightning for the last several days, and since I can see lightning flashes on the western horizon, I am reluctantly canceling today’s ride.
This is a nice summer ride route, on a sunny day when there is no rain or lightning, and the Nature Coast Trail is dry and shady. When the trail is covered with water and wet leaves and the trees are wet and dripping at 97% humidity, it is not nearly as nice. I will post this ride again for Melinda on a nicer drier day. I am posting this CANCEL early due to the travel time to get to Trenton to the posted ride start. Anyone who wants
to try to do it alone is welcome to, but I will not post a group ride into known and deteriorating rain conditions with lightning. Sorry!
