Saddle Tramps and Bee-17s jointly ride the Wild Horse and Pristine Fields loops of the Ride to Remember, Sunday, April 15th.

Note:  Today's ride is part of a 2-day ride.  We will also ride on SATURDAY April 14th, when we will do the rest of the Ride to Remember.  The idea is to preview the route for the Ride to Remember in one weekend, but do it on two days instead of one day like the official 100 mile ride.  The Saturday ride will do the initial part of the Ride to Remember as a Bee-17 ride, which leaves from Boulware Springs and travels to Flemington and back in ~50 miles.

This is a moderately easy ~50 mile ride, on paved roads with a few rolling hills.   Restrooms are available at the Flemington Park Start Point and Rest Stop.  Meet at 9:00AM at Flemington Park for a departure at 9:15AM

Saddle Tramps:  Expect level-ground pedaling speeds between 13-16 mph, and an average speed of 13-14 mph on this route.  This is a no-drop friendly ride; nobody needs to stress themselves to keep up with the leader or faster riders, because we will stop and wait for everyone to regroup at each major turn.  Helmets are required.  If someone seeks a SHORTER ride they can ride only one of the two loops, for a ~25 mile ride.  The Wild Horse loop will be ridden first.

Bee-17s:  Expect level ground pedaling speeds between 17-19 mph, and an average speed between 16-17 mph.  Anyone who is having difficulty keeping up with the lead group and falls out of sight behind can drop back and join the Saddle Tramps or others who have fallen back, knowing that they will eventually be swept up by the Saddle Tramps.  The route is marked on the pavement with arrows, and maps will be provided for anyone who asks for one, so the lead group on THIS ride will not wait for anyone who falls seriously behind, since they can join the Saddle Tramps soon after they get dropped, and the Saddle Tramps will make sure they find their way back to Flemington.  Helmets are required.

The Start Point:  Is at the park in Flemington.  To find the Park, directions from I-75 as well as Hwy. 441 are as follows: Flemington Park is located at the intersection of C.R. 318 and C.R. 329 in Marion County and there are bathrooms there.

From I-75 take the first exit past Micanopy ("Orange Lake/Irvine" exit) , which is C.R. 318, and go three miles west (go to the right after the exit ramp towards Irvine) to the stop sign at C.R. 329; turn right and very quickly turn left into the park.

From Hwy 441, just before Micanopy, take C.R. 234 to the right if you are coming from Gainesville. When you cross into Marion County, 234 becomes C.R.329. From 441 it is 8 miles south on 234/329, and just before C.R. 318 turn right into Flemington Park. If you reach the stop sign at C.R. 318, you've gone too far.

Maps:  Route maps will be available at the start of the ride; if you want a preview map of the ride or a Garmin .tcx file, email Ed at the address below.  The route is also mapped on the GCC; click on the Ride to Remember banner on the front page and a description of the Ride to Remember event with map links will appear.

Rest Stop:  The Flemington Park will be the start and finish point, and also the rest stop, as each loop returns to the park.  additionally, there is a small country store close by the park, and another convenience store/gas station on the Pristine Fields loop at the turn onto CR239 at Lowell, which will occur late in the ride.

The Bee-17 ride group will be lead by Ed Gardner ; the Saddle Tramp ride group will be lead by Melinda Koken.
