I rode the Rock trail Friday for the first time in several weeks and wanted to give an update.

First, regarding the trail re-route due to the easement road, we are scrapping that right now and running the trail as it's always been.  I won't go into the story there.

The trail has taken a beating with erosion in some places, notably the sinkhole in the front.  It's still rideable but a bit more challenging (which may not be all that bad depending on how you look at it).  But after the rains subside I'd like to get some lime rock, a Bobcat tractor, and a group of people out there to breath some life back into the trail.

Finally, there are 3 trees that need to be cut. One is blocking the trail as the back singletrack starts.  For now just get off your bike and walk over it; you don't need to find another entry point.

The other tree is about 1/2 mile before the teeter totter but can be ridden around if you ride off trail.  The 3rd is just before the end of the trail.  You can walk under it but probably can't ride under it unless you're really short.

I started to cut the trees and the chain saw stopped working after a minute or two.  Very disappointing!  It's in the shop and I've got to go out of town so it may be 2-4 weeks before I can get out there.

****If anyone has a chain saw and can cut these three trees you would be a ROCK STAR (pun slightly intended).  If that's you I can even meet you out there Monday or Tuesday night.****

At this point keeping tires on the trail when it's dry and tires off when it's wet is the best thing for it.  Hopefully in the fall we can restore it back to it's former glory.  I will say I was encouraged that someone mowed the jump track and the climb up to it; that was really cool, whoever did it.

One final note, a large tree fell at the VERY back of the back 40 but the guy who mows the field mowed a nice re-route.
